Keyword plugins breaking image captions

GlassThere are many plugins for Wordpress which automatically convert some or all the instances of a word into a link. I always considered those plugin very useful for two reasons: they reduce the link-building time when writing a post and they can have a good impact on the SEO, if a good (semantical) internal linking is built.

Anyway all the plugins I tried have a common, little problem, which I wasn’t able to fix.

When you upload an image and insert a text to describe it (the description field in the flash uploader) most of the themes put that text in a caption around the image; every autolink plugin breaks the caption and all the informations linked to the image (url, description, alignment etc.) are lost. It is an ugly behaviour. BM Keywordlink, aLinks and my Pages Autolink, for example, have the same problem.

The only solution I found is to avoid to insert text in image captions. It seems there’s no way, infact, to make Wordpress “understand” when a text is an image-caption text and not a page or a post text.

Do you have any better idea?
